Afghan Box Camera: It was probably the summer of 1973. I was wandering around the Boston Common with my Minolta when I was hailed by this street vendor with a weird contraption. Said something about since I was a photographer, why don't I pay him to take my picture? He had this rickity wooden box and was standing there, ready to take my money. I hadn't seen anything like it, so I gave him a couple of bucks and he told me to stand by the fence.
